LK’s “AM 970 The Apple” PodKast-The 3/5/12 Show

Before getting started, LK wants to thank you for putting the show in or near the top 10 shows nation-wide for its entire duration on TalkStreamLive.com this morning.  It’s much appreciated.

On today’s show, LK:

De-mystifies the Greek debt debacle and makes it clear that the Credit Default Swap mess that threatens to bring down Europe and played a big part in bringing down Lehman Brothers is nothing but a bunch of bookies/bankers who can’t pay off winning bets.  For once, it’s the bookies/bankers who need their knees broken.

Points out that the Chinese are cleaning our clocks in a way that’s eerily similar to how we brought down the Soviet Union in the ’80′s.

Suggests that no one give up a job they hate in search of greener pastures just yet (don’t stop looking, just don’t give up the bird in the hand), because it’s a misconception to believe that the better economic numbers mean that the coast is clear.

Chastises the NFL players, disses Santorum (like shooting fish in a barrel of contraceptives), takes 30 seconds instead of the 2 full shows it takes other hosts to reconcile the rush from Rush, and declares the Republican quest for the nomination close to a done deal for Romney now that Ted Nugent’s endorsed him.  Cat Scratch Fever, Mitt’s new campaign theme song.

Talks with Dr. John Palumbo about the folly of Afghanistan and the pursuit of inner peace.

Have a ball.

LK’s “AM 970 The Apple” PodKast-The 2/20/12 Show

Take one part rising gas prices, one part Iranian rumblings, and one part municipalities going broke, and LK sees a Mad Max environment right around the corner.

He also sees the Republicans self-destructing while the Dems and Prez O put lipstick on pigs and hope we invite the pigs to the prom.

The sovereign nation of China is hacking into whatever it feels like hacking into, with little or no resistance, while the sovereign nation of Google does the same.

Dr. John declares war on the war on drugs, and takes Syria to task for its cyber-treachery.

Happy President’s Day.  George and Abe are turning in their graves after checking out the news on their iPads.

From the Grammys to Greece, it’s all about addicts, enablers, and co-dependents.   Whitney had entourages that had entourages, but no one with the guts to say “enough”.  Greece has a government that’s never governed, and has left the country at the mercy of the Euro-Thugs.

LK scoffs at the antibiotics coursing through his system, and that ain’t all he scoffs at.

Strap yourself in.

The Giants are the Super Bowl champs, and that’s just fine and dandy, but it doesn’t change the dysfunctional  local, national, and international goings on.

Newt, the “angry little attack muffin” (thank you Peggy Noonan) makes Thomas Eagleton look like the picture of mental health.  LK didn’t know he was one of the despised northeastern elite just because he rode the NYC subways, and no doubt his fellow strap-hangers will be equally surprised by Newt’s vituperations.

The European leaders get their economic marching orders from the same banks and hedge funds that got them into their mess, while the European people just get shafted.

The question isn’t whether Madonna should have done the Super Bowl halftime show, but what kind of damage control is now most appropriate.

All this, plus the pinball segment and some fresh bumper music make this yet another show that one misses at one’s own peril.

Enjoy!

LK’s “AM 970 The Apple” PodKast-The 1/30/12 Show

Usually it’s just the last segment of the show in which LK goes pinball, bouncing around from topic to topic and perspective to perspective.  This show was wall to wall pinball, from the opening bell to the reluctant farewell.

Among this morning’s bonus balls:

Was Haley Barbour, by pardoning 200+ mostly politically connected lowlifes, trying to obfuscate the pardoning of the convicts who worked at the governor’s mansion, convicts who perhaps saw some Mississippi mischief that the Gov doesn’t want going public?

Why the Prez and Ron Paul are currently sitting together in a corner of the schoolroom, backs facing the class, while wearing matching dunce caps.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close almost killed LK as he attempted not to break into full-blown blubbering in a crowded movie theater.  Its impact knocked him for a loop and probably influenced the show more than he’d like to admit.  The film was as powerful as The Descendants was limp. For reasons not easily explained, but LK takes a shot at it.

Why Leon Panetta couldn’t be Warren Buffet’s secretary, let alone the SecDef.

How Greece is being raped by the EuroZone (read “Germany”).

Dr. John weighs in with his timely and much needed observations on the proliferation of medz for kidz.

The serenity prayer, or affirmation, depending on your religious or secular take on spirituality:

“Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference”

LK attempts to remain serene while hyperventilating following South Carolina’s primary and the Gingrich victory, which came about, in large part, due to the Newt’s racially charged code words.

LK comes to bury Paterno, not to praise him, and can’t understand why anyone, besides the Friends of Sandusky, would see it otherwise.

He goes toe to toe with Dr. John, as they engage in a long volley of news both joyous and repulsive, and Dr. John’s fully redesigned 2012 Serenity Prayer rings true.

LK tips his helmet to the NY Giants.

LK’s “AM 970 The Apple” PodKast-The 1/16/12 Show

In hour 1 of this morning’s show:

LK’s controversial take on the Marines who urinated on the dead bodies in Afghanistan: punish the puppeteers, not the puppets.

Speculation on Haley Barbour’s real reasons for pardoning hundreds of prisoners, including convicted murderers.

Football, as only LK and Dr. John can play it.

Leaders who rise because, and only because, they have more nerve and less humility and shame than the rest of us.

Hour 2 may have gone to hard drive heaven, but if it returns from the brink, we’ll post it as soon as it’s out of the ICU.

LK’s “AM 970 The Apple” PodKast-The 10/17/11 Show

LK sticks his head in the bucket of muck called “the news”, so you don’t have to if you don’t choose to, and he loses his mind so you have the option of keeping yours.

The MLK memorial, an ex-con working at Mickey D’s who’s either the con man or the victim, the traveling sideshow of Republican candidates, and Holder’s haplessness are all on the docket, and then some.

LK’s “AM 970 The Apple” PodKast-The 10/10/11 Show

As LK wrote to a mentor type last week:

We’ve gotten stupid and selfish and evil, but of the few who allow themselves to see that, even fewer are willing to say it.  Nothing good is going to happen unless and until there is a critical mass of revulsion for the culture we have embraced and/or succumbed to.

This week’s show jumps from Wall Street to Washington to war zones, from bailouts of too big to fail to failings of too small-minded to think straight.  Everybody’s doing “The Corruption” as if it’s the latest dance craze.

To lighten things up, LK and Dr. John deal with LK’s delusional belief that the Yankees are in the LCS, and they tip their hats to Governor Christie for speeding up the auto inspection process by putting brakes, wipers, and leaky gas tanks on the back burner.
